Once was one of the greatest cities in the world, the signs of human habitation date back to 6000 years, known for the Terra Cotta Warriors.   


shaanxi-history-museum This Shaanxi Provincial Museum, housed in a magnificent Confucian Temple, features more than 370,000 pieces of historical relics, mainly from the Zhou to the Tang periods (1100B.C. to 907 A.D.).
 
big-goose-pagoda Situated inside Ci'en (Thanks-giving) Temple, four kilometres south of Xi'an city, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists.
 
forest-of-steles01 Situated at the bottom of the City wall, the Forest of Steles is the heaviest collection of books in the world. The earliest texts date back to the Han dynasty. It is a treasure house of Chinese calligraphic art.
 
banpo-village-musem Six to seven thousand years ago, late Neolithic people built a stable village. Banpo had about 500 people living in the village.
 
bell-tower The Bell Tower in Xian is located in the very center of the city and at the junction of four main roads. The original city Bell Tower was situated to the west of this site and the present construction was built in 1582 and restored in 1739
 
city-wall The Xian City Wall is the best-preserved, oldest and largest ancient city defense system in China. It is also one of the most important landmarks of Xian city.
 
qin-tomb Situated at the foot of the Mountain Li and 2 km west of the Terracotta Army, is the tomb of the Qin Emperor the Army of Terracotta Warriors that were built to protect the tomb.
 
huaqing-hot-spring The Huaqing Hot Spring, situated at the foothill of Lishan ("Mt. Li"), is about 35 kilometers east of the city Xian.
 
terra-cotta-warriors The Terra-Cotta Warriors, located in Lintong County, 35 kilometers east of Xian, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, is regarded as "the eighth wonder of the world" and has been listed as a world heritage site by the UNESCO since December 1987.
